By Sea Watch | Wednesday, August 31st, 2011

Saturday evening, August 27, 2011, Vicki and Billy were able to say "I Do" under the beautiful sunny skies on the beach in front of the Sea Watch Resort.  We held our breath waiting for the weather report and as luck or love would have it; the wind died down and the clouds parted.  The couple from Long Island , NY had been planning their wedding for over a year.  We are so happy that they were able to have their ceremony on the beach.  It was a beautiful ceremony followed by a lovely cocktail hour in the front of…

On Wednesday night we decided to take in a movie which we have not done in many, many, many years.  We had the chance to watch the Transformers 3 movie in 3D at the IMAX theater located at Broadway at the Beach.  Before we arrived, I kept remembering those awful funny looking cardboard 3D glasses they used to hand out when ever the local theater would have a 3D movie.  I was a little skeptical about how well the movie would be in 3D.  We arrived to the IMAX with just moments to spare.  We purchased our tickets and entered…

By Sea Watch | Friday, July 8th, 2011

As I began my 4th of July celebration weekend I had the great joy of having my Mom visit from NC. After a few hours of relaxing on the beach, we went home and got ready for a night on the town. We started at Captain George’s restaurant for their wonderful buffet filled with the best seafood in town. Of course I had my fill of crab legs, prime rib, and…

BeatleMania Now at the Carolina Opry

By Sea Watch | Sunday, June 26th, 2011

I had the pleasure of attending BeatleMania on Friday evening at the Carolina Opry.  From the moment you walk in you feel welcomed by their staff.  We entered the theatre and found 4 very talented performers.  It was almost like the original Beatles were right there on stage.  While they performed several of the songs that the Beatles were famous for, black and white clips played in the background showing scenes of Beatle fans "screaming" and "crying" over their chance to hear the Beatles perform in concert.  They also included clips of Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy walking the…

Tourist Living in Myrtle Beach

By Sea Watch | Monday, June 20th, 2011

Most people that live in Myrtle Beach are from some where else in the United States.   I am originally from North Carolina and moved here almost 11 years ago.  Like most, I moved here because I fell in love with the area from coming down for vacation with friends and family.  Unfortunately, once you move here, you find a job, start working everyday and forget why you moved here in the first place. Then many years later you realize you haven't been to the beach in years as I did. So I made a promise to myself that this year…

Last night we had our very 1st Sunday Sea Watch Karaoke Party!!!   It went very well.  There were plenty of smiling faces as guests sang their hearts out to their music selection.  Some of our guest decided to just sit back and listen to the music and watch the performances, while others were more daring as they took the mike in handle and sang.  There were families enjoying the pool while others sat back with their kids and ate ice cream from the Captain's Nook Ice Cream and Coffee Shop.  We were offering a special on pizza which was $10.00…

My Birthday Helicopter Ride!!!

By Sea Watch | Tuesday, June 7th, 2011

Out of all the fun and exciting things to do in Myrtle Beach for my Birthday I chose to do something out of the ordinary and completely out of my comfort zone. I made a trip to Huffman Helicopter Tours at the North Myrtle beach Air Port. It’s only a few miles away from Sea Watch Resort on 33rd Ave South. I was greeted by Tylar Proveaux the Sales Manager at that location. He explained in detail all the tours and prices and even introduced me to the pilot Riley Troy.  Both guys were super nice and a lot of…

Zumba at Horry County’s North Strand Park

Zumba seems to be all the new rage in working out and I have to tell you from personal experience….it ROCKS!  Zumba is an easy to follow, Latin inspired, calorie-burning dance fitness party that is perfect for everyone.  I have absolutely no rhythm at all and two left feet to boot so I was very apprehensive to try it out.  I finally found the courage and it was the best thing I could have ever done.  I truly look forward to my Monday and Wednesday nights!  I take classes at the North Strand Park which is one of many Horry…

Sky Wheel

By Sea Watch | Saturday, May 21st, 2011

Last night I had to take a drive to see the light show I read about in the articles regarding the new Sky Wheel in Myrtle Beach on Ocean Blvd.   I was amazed to see that they were correct.  The LIGHT SHOW was fabulous!!!  The Sky Wheel could be seen from blocks away and the lights reflected off area buildings.  It was definitely worth the drive just to see the array of colorful lights as they changed colors and designs.  At one point it even blinked RED, WHITE, and BLUE.  Next week I will be riding this wonderful…

Ode to Dixie Stampede

By Sea Watch | Friday, May 20th, 2011

For the last 6 years my family and I have enjoyed the foot stomping, chicken eating, finger licking good times at Dixie Stampede. I got to watch my children grow through the Dixie themed family photos we had taken at their on-site photo shop.  I got to see my brother Al play horse shoes with toilet seats. I got to watch magic shows, horse shows and eat a fantastic meal, all in the same night. And, how could I forget the first time my family and I went to the show, there were no utensils. We ate with our hands…

Myrtle Beach State Park

By Sea Watch | Friday, May 13th, 2011

Sunday, May 8th, 2011 on Mother's Day.  I went to the Myrtle Beach State Park located on the South end of Myrtle Beach.  The drive in was absolutely beautiful.  The trees lined the road, moss hanging from the tree limbs, and the smell of the flowers drifting through the air.  It was only $5.00 per person for an "All Day Pass".  The park has several places to have a cook out, play grounds nestled in the trees and covered buildings for parties.  They added wooden walk ways for easy access to the beach and of course the pier and store…

Hard Hat Tour at the New Pirate’s Voyage

Last week I was delighted to take a hard hat tour of the new Pirate's Voyage.  It was a great experience for me to see how Dixie Stampede was transformed into the new Pirate's Voyage.  As I entered the building on the top level I could see all the constructions crews working very hard to get things completed.  The inside of the building has totally changed.  Some of the crews were working on the tables and chairs where all the guests will sit while others were working on the pirate's ship that will lay is the new lagoon.  The…

Alligator Adventure

By Sea Watch | Friday, April 29th, 2011

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Alligator Adventure located near Barefoot Landing.  I was amazed at all the different alligators ranging in size from eight inch babies to fifteen foot adult gators weighing anywhere from 500 to 1000 pounds.  It was very interesting listening and watching the staff explain the life of these creatures.  They feed the large reptiles by hand as they speak about them.  I was facinated by all the other animals they had such as the giant Anaconda and Pythons which were as long as 37 feet long and the King Cobra's were 18 feet long. …

Another perspective of living at the beach

By Sea Watch | Wednesday, April 27th, 2011

I found myself pondering about Myrtle Beach the other day.  I could not help but think of how much my family and I have excelled in this area.  We moved down here to Myrtle Beach about 7 years ago from Massachusetts.  From snow, ice, freezing rain and sub zero cold weather to FUN in the SUN!  The first  year we lived in Myrtle Beach, we celebrated Thanksgiving Day on the beach with 80 degree weather.  What a difference!  But honestly that wasn't the best thing about this area for me, it was the "Southern Hospitality"  that really stood out.  Up…

Living in Myrtle Beach

By Sea Watch | Tuesday, April 26th, 2011

I moved from up North to Myrtle Beach six years ago and I have been with Sea Watch for five years now.  Guest ask me if I am still happy with my decision to move here and my answer is always YES!  It seems no matter what time of the year it is, you can find something nice to say.  In the summer you have the warmth of the air and of the water.  I remember my first time stepping into the ocean here in North Myrtle Beach - the water was so warm I felt like I was taking a bath. …
