Things to Do on a Rainy Day
Beach trips are usually all about relaxation, sunshine, and plenty of fun! However, due to South Carolina’s humid climate, there are going to be an occasional day where rain could be in the forecast. The good news is Myrtle Beach has a ton of activities to offer during these days for families who want to get out and explore the town a bit. Below we’ve featured several of our best rainy day destinations for families this summer.
Sea Watch Resort
Even on rainy days, there's still plenty of amenities available to keep you and your family entertained at Sea Watch Resort. With two indoor pools, you can continue to enjoy your pool time even if it's raining outside. Both the north and south towers have a pool area that is located underneath the towers on the ground floor. For kids, our arcade is a perfect place to spend a rainy day with various game machines available for daily use. Also, enjoy an oceanfront dining experience at our Captain's Cove restaurant!
Ripley’s Aquarium
One of the most beloved attractions in Myrtle Beach, Ripley’s Aquarium, located at Broadway at the Beach, features amazing exhibits full of tropical fish, sting rays, sharks, and even a sea turtle. In the middle of the aquarium there is a “Touch Tank” where each guest will have an opportunity to touch several of the animals on display. Feeding sessions are also a must see for families as one of the trained divers will submerge themselves into the tank and feed many of the animals. It’s not only fun to watch but entertaining as well.
WonderWorks
Also located at Broadway at the Beach, WonderWorks is a very well-known science museum with over 100 exhibits. Test out our hurricane endurance as you try to survive an 84-mph category one hurricane. Next, make your way to the 2nd floor where you can ride in the anti-gravity chamber or enjoy the 6D Motion Ride, which takes you on a thrilling 6D journey. Top it all off with a fun game of Lazer-Tag! WonderWorks is truly a great place to visit with your entire family.
The Children’s Museum of South Carolina
Perfect for families with small children, the Children’s Museum of South Carolina offers numerous educational exhibits for even the littlest guests. Learn about tools while working on the “Under Construction House” as children learn how to build basic structures. Head to the high seas as a pirate in the USS KIDS-A-FLOAT exhibit where guests can learn about the Pirates of the Carolinas. With numerous exhibits available and a very affordable price of admission, The Children’s Museum of South Carolina is a must visit during on your next Myrtle Beach vacation.
